WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) welcomed Tasha and Will Uland of Bowling Green, Kentucky, to his office in the U.S. Capitol and congratulated Tasha on being recognized as an Angel in Adoption for 2023.
Senator McConnell nominated Tasha for the honor. Nearly two decades ago, Tasha and her husband, Will, embarked on their journey to grow their family through adoption. While navigating their adoption journey, Tasha's deep desire to help children in need only grew. In 2010, she and her husband traveled to China for three weeks. Seeing the desperation of overrun orphanages deepened Tasha's dedication to helping children find safe and nurturing homes. After thorough research, counsel, and prayer, they felt a deep calling to provide a loving home for two daughters from China.
Tasha's passion for adoption led her to become an Adoption Specialist for Adoption Assistance. Initially, her primary focus was preparing families for the adoption process. Nowadays, Tasha dedicates herself to supporting birthmothers facing one of the hardest decisions of their lives. She feels very strongly about providing the opportunity for birthmother counseling and devotes her time to speak with visitors to pregnancy centers across the Commonwealth.

"It was an honor to welcome Tasha and Will Uland to Washington and hear their incredible story. Tasha's commitment to building loving homes for children in need is inspiring, and I'm grateful to have such passionate adoption advocates, like her, in the Commonwealth," said Senator McConnell. "One of my greatest privileges as a Senator is meeting with Kentuckians like the Ulands and helping them receive the recognition they deserve. I wish Tasha, Will, and their children my best as they continue to grow together as a family."
"There is no greater job than finding loving families for children in need. Thank you, Senator McConnell, for helping raise adoption awareness and supporting Kentucky families like ours. The bond our adopted daughters share, along with our biological children, is indescribable," said Tasha Uland. "Our work continues to support expectant mothers and help provide life-saving opportunities to vulnerable women and their children, as well as support women who are able to preserve a relationship with their children while maintaining healthy boundaries."
Angels in Adoption is a public awareness campaign by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute. Each year, Members of Congress can nominate constituents who are helping to improve the lives of children in need of a loving family.
