LONDON, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that on Friday, September 29, 2023, Deputy Daniel Reed arrested a subject at a business on KY 229 after receiving a complaint regarding an individual in the parking lot there.
The complaint was in regards of a male subject passed out on a moped in the parking lot of the business.
Upon arrival at the scene, Deputy Reed located and identified the suspect as Swade S. Smith, age 44 (no address listed) and cunducted an investigation.
During the investigation, it was determined that Smith was under the influence of a controlled substance.
A crystal substance suspected to be Methamphetamine was located.
Deputy Reed arrested Swade Shannon Smith and he was transported to the Laurel County Detention Center.
Swade Smith was charged with:
- Possession of a >Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Public Intoxication.
Smith was also charged with:
- An FTA warrant for traffic related charges in Knox County
- A Laurel County warrant for Failure to Complete Court Ordered Rehab.
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
