BODY OF MAN WHO FLED ENCOUNTER WITH CONSERVATION OFFICER LOCATED SUNDAY IN WARREN COUNTY, KENTUCKY

BOWLING GREEN, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that on Sunday, August 27, 2023, just before 11:00 A.M., KSP Post 3, Bowling Green, received a call from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources requesting investigative assistance in regards to a deceased male who had been located in the Barren River.

The initial investigation revealed that on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at approximately 7:15 p.m. a Fish and Wildlife Conservation Officer made contact with Robert Britt, 47, of Bowling Green.

Mr. Britt fled on foot from the encounter with the officer and entered into the Barren River.

Kentucky State Police initiated a missing person investigation and officers attempted to locate Mr. Britt.

Local rescue personnel including watercraft were utilized but responders were unable to locate him.

Mr. Britt’s remains were located Sunday morning August 27, 2023 by rescue personnel and divers in the Barren River.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 3 Detective Johnathan Carlock.

He was assisted on scene by KSP personnel, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, Warren County Emergency Management, Richardsville Fire Department, and Warren County Coroner’s Office.
