CRUELTY TO ANIMALS: Two Dozen Dogs and Puppies Surrendered in Hopkins County, Kentucky

DAWSON SPRINGS, KY – The Kentucky State Police is reporting that KSP in conjunction with the Hopkins County Humane Society conducted an investigation into animal cruelty.

After nearly a month long investigation, the Hopkins County Humane Society found that numerous Alaskan Malamutes were being sold unvaccinated and living in deplorable conditions.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Nina Holm, 58, of Dawson Springs, KY, was in possession of twenty-four dogs.

Troopers discovered several dogs were being kept outside in a metal building under conditions of extreme heat, little to no ventilation, no water, and feces-covered floor.

Inside of the residence, Troopers discovered five puppies covered in feces locked inside of a small cage in the kitchen.

Holm voluntarily surrendered twenty-four total dogs and puppies to the Hopkins County Humane Society.

Nina Holm was charged with:

  • Twenty-four counts of Cruelty to Animals 2nd Degree

The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Leevi McMillin.
