LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Reed arrested Joshua Lee Sawyers age 23 of Clark Lane, Lily early Sunday morning August 13, 2023 at approximately 1:52 AM.
The arrest occurred off Conley Road, approximately 3 miles east of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a stolen four wheeler on East Laurel Road.
While enroute to the scene deputies learned that allegedly two individuals wearing ski masks operating a four wheeler had hooked onto the victim’s four wheeler off East Laurel Road and pulled it off Conley Road into a field by a pond near a residence.
Deputies searched the area and were able to locate the two four wheelers parked in a tree line near the pond.
They also located a suspect, Joshua Lee Sawyers in a residence near the pond including a ski mask apparently used during the theft.
The reported stolen four wheeler was recovered.
Joshua Sawyers was charged with:
- Theft by unlawful taking $1000 or more but under $10,000
In addition, it was determined that this individual was wanted on outstanding warrants including a Clay District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on numerous traffic violations.
In addition, the subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on a licensing violation.
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
