CHESTNUT MOUND, TENNESSEE MAN KILLED IN MOTORCYCLE COLLISION ON BARDSTOWN ROAD (HWY 62) IN HARDIN COUNTY, KENTUCKY

Elizabethtown, KY – The Kentucky State Police is reporting that KSP responded to a single-vehicle collision in Hardin County on Friday afternoon August 11, 2023 that resulted in a fatality.

On August 11, at approximately 1:00 P.M. EDT, KSP Post 4 received a call in reference to a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Bardstown Road (Hwy 62) near the city limits. Moments later, KSP received a call from the Elizabethtown Police Department stating the motorcycle had collided with a concrete culvert near the intersection of Bardstown Road and Botto Ave.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Nicholas Carr, 29, of Chestnut Mound, TN, was operating a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle eastbound on Bardstown Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control and ran off the roadway before striking a concrete culvert.

Investigators learned 30 minutes before, a motorist on I-65 had called KSP Post 3, Bowling Green about a motorcycle traveling north on I-65 driving at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner. A Post 4 trooper did observe Carr near the 87-mile marker but, due to high speeds, was not able to continue to observe the motorcycle, and it was soon lost.

Carr was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner’s Office.

KSP Post 4 was assisted at the scene by the Hardin County EMS and the Hardin County Coroner’s Office. The collision remains under investigation by Tpr. Allen Spencer.
