VICTIMS IDENTIFIED IN DOUBLE FATALITY CRASH ON KENTUCKY 80 IN LAUREL COUNTY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root and London City Police Chief Chuck Johnson are reporting that a Laurel County Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating a two vehicle traffic fatality that left both drivers deceased at the scene. 

Investigators report that the traffic crash occurred approximately 5 miles east of London on East Laurel Road, (KY 80).

The preliminary investigation indicates that a white colored BMW car traveling westbound and a maroon Ford Focus traveling eastbound collided in the eastbound lane causing the vehicles to burst into flames.

Both are believed to be the drivers and were apparently the only occupants in their vehicles and both were pronounced deceased at the scene by Laurel County Deputy Coroner Tyson Baker.

  • The driver of the white BMW was identified as: Brittany Smallwood age 30 of London—deceased at the scene.
  • The driver of the maroon colored Ford Focus was identified as: Ethan Taylor age 30 of London—deceased at the scene.

A Crash Reconstruction Team comprised of Laurel Sheriff's Capt. Chris Edwards, Deputy Brad Mink, and London City Lt. Ryan Jackson are continuing their investigation.

Numerous officers from both the Laurel County Sheriff's office and London City Police Department assisted at the scene along with Bush Fire and Rescue, London - Laurel Rescue Squad, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Laurel County Department of Public Safety and Emergency Management, Laurel County Constable's office and the Laurel County Coroner's office

Laurel County Sheriff John Root and London City Police Chief Chuck Johnson are reporting that a Laurel County Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team Is investigating a two vehicle traffic fatality that left both drivers deceased at the scene. Investigators report that the traffic crash occurred approximately 5 miles west of London on East Laurel Rd. (Ky 80). Preliminary investigation indicates that two vehicles collided in the eastbound lane causing the vehicles to burst into flames. Both drivers were believed to be the only occupants in their vehicles and both were pronounced deceased at the scene by Laurel County Deputy Coroner Tyson Baker.

A Reconstruction team comprised of Laurel Sheriff's Capt. Chris Edwards- the case officer, Deputy Brad Mink, and London City Police Lt. Ryan Jackson are continuing their investigation. Numerous officers from both the Laurel County Sheriff's office and London city police department assisted at the scene along with Bush fire and rescue, London Laurel rescue squad, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Laurel County Department of Public Safety and Emergency management, Laurel County Constable's office and the Laurel County Coroner's office.

Laurel County Emergency Management Director Justin Noe reports that Ky80 east of London is reopened.---at 5:25 P.M.

Ky 80 , 5 miles east of London will be closed for an extended period oftime due to a serious traffic crash. The Laurel County ReconstructionTeam is on scene investigating a fatal crash involving 2 vehicles. Moreinformation as it becomes available.
