MONTICELLO, KY - The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is reporting that according to Sheriff Tim Catron, the ongoing investigations into the illegal sales of narcotics by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office in Wayne County has resulted in a mother and son from McCreary County being arrested on drug trafficking charges in Wayne and McCreary Counties.
On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at approximately 7:15 P.M. Wayne County Sheriff's Office Deputies James Barnett, Chris Lyon and Derek Dennis were conducting an undercover drug surveillance operation in the parking lot at the Dollar General Store located on East Highway Kentucky 92.
Information obtained during this investigation led to the Deputies conducting surveillance of a vehicle sitting parked in the Dollar General Store's parking lot.
The surveillance led to the Deputies making contact with Carmon Daughtery age 33 of Whitley City, KY.
After explaining to Daughtery about the drug investigation he gave consent to a search of his vehicle. Consent was also given to search for the vehicle that was under surveillance by its owner.
The searches resulted in the seizure of:
- Approximately 57.38 grams of Methamphetamine
- A Suboxone film
- $1,236.00 in Cash
Deputy Derek Dennis then charged and arrested Camaron Daughtery for:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 2 grams of Methamphetamine)
- Possession of a controlled substance-2nd degree (drug unspecified)
While conducting interviews with the son enough information was obtained to secure a search warrant for a residence located in McCreary County, KY.
Camron Daughtery was then lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center and Deputy Dennis contacted the McCreary County Sheriff's Office and Kentucky State Police so a search warrant could be obtained for the McCreary County residence.

After a search warrant was obtained by McCreary County Sheriff's Office, Chief Deputy Dustin Ridner, it was executed at the McCreary County residence.
The search warrant resulted in 4 bags of suspected Methamphetamine with a total weight of approximately 462 grams being seized along with a firearm.

McCreary County Sheriff Deputy Ridner charged and arrested the mother, Tonya Lynn Daughtery age 52 of Whitley City, KY for:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 2 grams of Methamphetamine
- Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
Tonya Daughtery was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
