SHERMAN COUNTY, OR - On Friday, July 21, 2023, at approximately 4:16 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 97, near milepost 26, in Sherman County.
The preliminary investigation indicated a white Saab 95, operated by Nicholas Demos (29) of Hermiston, was traveling southbound on Hwy-97 when it left the roadway and rolled over. The operator was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The highway was impacted for approximately 1 hour during the on-scene investigation. Speed and lane usage are suspected as the main contributing factors to the crash.
OSP was assisted by Moro Fire and Rescue, Sherman County Sheriff Office, and ODOT.
