FATAL COLLISION ON KENTUCKY ROUTE 680 IN FLOYD COUNTY

BRANHAM CREEK, KY (July 24, 2023) – Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a call on July 23, 2023, at 02:25 a.m. reporting a single vehicle collision had occurred on Kentucky Route 680 in the Branham Creek community of Floyd County.

Post 9 investigators responded and began the investigation.

The initial investigation indicated Marcus Auxier, 20 years old of Nippa, was operating a 2019 Chevrolet pickup on Kentucky Route 680, when Auxier’s vehicle exited the roadway and overturned.

Two juvenile passengers were pronounced deceased on scene by the Floyd County Coroner’s Office. Four other occupants including the operator were transported to a nearby hospital for injuries sustained during the collision.

The investigation is ongoing by KSP Accident Reconstructionist, Detective Joshua Scott.

Detective Scott was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, Mud Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Garrett Volunteer Fire Department, Betsy Layne Volunteer Fire Department, and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.
