MULTNOMAH COUNTY, OR - Multiple vehicles traveling on NE 223rd Ave. and I-84 in Fairview were struck by thrown rocks. Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) responds and takes three people into custody.
On Monday, June 26, 2023, just before 4:00 a.m., 911 calls started coming in from motorists reporting rocks being thrown at their cars as they drove. Several motorists reported their cars had been struck while traveling in the area of NE 223rd Ave. between NE Sandy Blvd. and the railroad bridge in Fairview.
Cars were struck while driving on 223rd Ave. as well as on I-84. Callers reported their vehicles being struck by rocks as big as softballs. One vehicle was struck by a cinder block (see photo).
As responding MCSO deputies arrived in the area they saw three people running away from the location. All were apprehended. Two juveniles were taken to JDH and one adult was taken to Multnomah County Detention Center. They were booked on multiple counts of criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
Remarkably, no serious injuries have been reported.
