LONDON, KY - The London Police Department is reporting that an employee of a local motel who tried to conceal a backpack full of drugs and cash was arrested by London Police.
Sheila Lynn Campbell, 47, of Woodchuck Lane, London, KY was arrested at 3:34 p.m. on Saturday, June 10 by London Police Ofc. Brent France, assisted by Ofc. Dylan Messer, Ofc. Jamie Etherton and Det. Gary Jordan with the HIDTA drug task force.
According to Ofc. France’s report, officers were dispatched to the Budget Host Inn on West Hal Rogers Parkway in reference to a drug complaint.
Information was developed about an inmate from Louisville in the Laurel County Detention Center who had called an employee of the motel named Sheila.
The caller told her there was a container of Meth left in a motel room, and if she could retrieve it she could keep it without worrying about law enforcement.
Upon arrival at the motel, officers located a female exiting the laundry room who identified herself as Sheila. She stated that she went into the room and retrieved the container with Meth, and would take officers to the front office to turn it over to them.
But upon entering the office, officers witnessed Campbell trying to conceal a backpack beside a chair.
Officers with seized drugs and cash
When searching the backpack, officers located several clear plastic bags containing large amounts of a crystal-like substance believed to be Meth, a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be Marijuana, and glass pipes for smoking Meth.
Inside Campbell’s purse officers located a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance believed to be Meth, and multiple pills believed to be Gabapentin that were not in a proper container.
Sheila Campbell was arrested for:
- Possession of a controlled substance, first degree
- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of a controlled substance, third degree
- Prescription drugs not in a proper container
- Tampering with physical evidence
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
