Felony Arrest with Drugs & Cash Seized and Stolen Property recovered in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Allen Turner arrested John Peters age 46 of Ray Johnson Rd., London on Tuesday afternoon June 13, 2023 at approximately 2:48 PM.

The arrest occurred at a residence off Ray Johnson Road, approximately 4 miles northeast of London after Deputy Turner developed information on the whereabouts of possible stolen property.

Deputy Turner along with Laurel County Sheriff John Root, and Deputy Tommy Houston, along with London Police Chief Chuck Johnson and other investigators from London City Police arrived at the residence to find two utility trailers that had the serial number removed from them.

The accused, John Peters, was found in possession of a large amount of suspected Methamphetamine along with pills and U.S. currency.

While he was being detained he attempted to conceal Meth and pills and became irate and aggressive toward law enforcement.

The contraband & money was seized and following a brief struggle with deputies this individual was taken into custody.

Upon being placed in the patrol vehicle, the accused began violently banging his head on the protective cage and window causing self-inflicted injuries.

Deputy Turner requested EMS (Ambulance Inc. of Laurel county) to respond to evaluate/treat the accused.

John Peters (left) was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense – Methamphetamine
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – third-degree – second offense
  • Receiving stolen property $1000 or more but under $10,000
  • Resisting arrest.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Investigators assisting at the scene for the Sheriff's office included: Laurel County Sheriff John Root and Deputy Tommy Houston.

Assisting for London City Police were: London Police Chief Chuck Johnson, Assistant Chief Bobby Day, Maj. Randy Medlock, Capt. Travis Couch and Sgt.Troy Truett.

The case officer, Deputy Allen Turner continues to investigate with other arrests possible.
