BARBOURVILLE, KY (May 30, 2023) - The Knox County, KY Sheriff's Department Is reporting that Sheriff Mike Smith is announcing that on Monday, May 15, 2023 Sgt. Bobby Jones arrested Jackie W. Duff age 37 of Gray, KY.
Duff was wanted on a Kentucky Parole Board warrant for:
- A parole violation charge
He was also wanted on two Harlan County bench warrants for failure to appear on two counts of:
- Flagrant Non-Support charges
This individual was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On Thursday, May 18, 2023 Sgt. Bobby Jones was dispatched to a complaint of a runaway juvenile at residence on Hawaiian Street in Corbin, KY.
While Sgt. Jones was responding, he observed a juvenile that matched the description of the runaway walking on KY 830.
When Sgt. Jones stopped and exited his vehicle, the juvenile attempted to run but Sgt. Jones was able to contain him.
While attempting to calm him down, the juvenile spit on Sgt. Jones, became disorderly by cursing and continued to try to jerk away.
Sgt. Jones took the juvenile into custody and while putting him inside the cruiser, the juvenile spit in Sgt. Jones’ face.
The 16 year-old male juvenile was charged with:
- Fleeing or Evading Police-2nd Degree
- Menacing and Disorderly Conduct
The juvenile was turned over to the Knox County Court designated worker.

On Friday, May 19, 2023 Deputy Adam Dailey arrested Johnny D. Wyatt age 53 of Barbourville, KY on two Knox County arrest warrants for:
- Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition-Cold Checks over $1,000
- Theft by Unlawful Taking/Livestock
- Terroristic Threatening-3rd Degree.

On Friday, May 19, 2023 Court Security Officer James Smith arrested T.J. Henson age 35 of Flat Lick, KY on a Knox County arrest warrant for:
- Assault-4th Degree

On Sunday, May 21, 2023 at approximately 8:30 A.M. Deputy Lt. Sam Mullins responded to a complaint of a man passed out in a vehicle at Bingham’s Store in Corbin.
When Lt. Mullins arrived he observed the man still inside the vehicle.
When Lt. Mullins checked the vehicle, a 2003 Cadillac CTS, he learned that it had been reported as stolen.
Lt. Mullins arrested Ronald Cloud age 36 of Corbin, KY charging him with:
- Receiving Stolen Property-over $1,000
Ronald Cloud was also wanted on a Kentucky Parole Board warrant for:
- A parole violation charge

On Tuesday, May 22, 2023 deputies arrested Bobby Shelton age 47 of Corbin, KY on a Knox County bench warrant for failure to pay the fine on an:
- Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence charge
Bobby Shelton was also wanted on two Whitley County bench warrants for failure to pay the fine on Receiving Stolen Property on two Whitley County bench warrants for failure to appear on two Whitley County bench warrants for failure to pay the fine on:
- Receiving Stolen Property-Under $500
- No Registration Plates or Receipt
- Failure to Produce Insurance Card
- Failure to Notify Address Change to Department of Transportation charges

On Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at approximately 10:25 P.M. Deputy Jesse Smith attempted to execute warrants on Joseph Brown at his residence Mills Creek Road in Flat Lick.
Joseph Brown locked himself in a bath room in an attempt to hide. He refused all commands to open the door.
When Deputy Smith forced the door open, Joseph Brown was hiding inside the bathtub and still refused all commands and became combative.
Joseph Brown was arrested and charged with:
- Resisting Arrest
- Menacing and Disorderly Conduct-2nd Degree
Joseph Brown was also charged on two Knox County bench warrants for failure to appear on two counts of:
- Possession Controlled Substance-3rd Degree
- Two counts of Contempt of Court charges

- Public Intoxication/Controlled Substance
