SOMERSET, KY - Sheriff Bobby Jones is reporting that on Monday, January 16, 2023, several Pulaski County residents were arrested following a traffic stop.
The incident began when Detective’s with the Pulaski County Narcotics Division were in the Hickory Nut area of Nancy. Detectives were searching for Elizabeth Simpson, age 33, of Nancy, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Detectives encountered a vehicle, known to be driven by Simpson, on Coldweather Road. Detectives were able to recognize Simpson as the driver.
Detective Lieutenant Daryl Kegley conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle. Upon stopping the vehicle, Detective Lieutenant Kegley and Detective Tan Hudson discovered the vehicle was occupied by four individuals, three having outstanding warrants.
Detective Trent Massey arrived on scene and deployed his K-9 Leo to conduct a walkaround the vehicle.
Upon completion of the walkaround, Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle and uncovered suspected Methamphetamine in multiple locations in the vehicle.
All four occupants of the vehicle identified as Elizabeth Simpson, age 33, of Nancy, KY, Brenda James, age 35, of Somerset, KY, Dylan Burton, age 36, of Nancy, KY and Anthony Peyton, age 45, of Liberty, KY were taken into custody and transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center.
Elizabeth Simpson was charged with:
1. Pulaski District Court Warrant for Failure to Appear
2. Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
Brenda James was charged with:
1. Pulaski District Court Warrant for Contempt of Court
2. Probation Violation (for Felony Offense)
3. Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
Dylan Burton was charged with:
1. Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
Anthony Peyton was charged with:
1. Pulaski District Court Warrant for Failure to Appear
2. Pulaski District Court Warrant for Contempt of Court
All four subjects were lodged at the Pulaski County Detention Center.
The case remains under investigation by Detective Lieutenant Daryl Kegley of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division.
