WILLIAMSBURG, KY (August 14, 20220 - The Williamsburg Police Department in Whitley County is reporting that on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at approximately 5:12 P.M., the Williamsburg Police Department received a request for assistance from the University of Cumberland's about a threat that was made toward the school.
The on duty WPD campus unit was contacted along with additional officers who responded and met with UC operations staff. A preliminary investigation indicates a male placed a call to the university, making a threat that indicated he was going execute a shooting on the campus.
Extra security measures and a high law enforcement presence was across the campus for about an hour as the investigation was conducted.

The subject was quickly identified as Dustin Collins Burchett, 35 of Somerset, KY and tracked to a location in Somerset where he was taken into custody by Kentucky State Police and the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.
The above mentioned individual was arrested and served with an arrest warrant.
Dustin Burchett was charged with:
- Terroristic threatening 2nd degree
According to JailTracker, as of Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 4:00 A.M this individual is being held without bond in the Whitley County Detention Center with a court date set for Monday, August 22, 2022 at 9:00 A.M..
