LANE COUNTY, OR (April 27, 2022) - The Oregon State Police is reporting that on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at approximately 5:28 PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 58 near milepost 23.
The preliminary investigation revealed an eastbound Ford F150, operated by Gary Elliot Jr. (27) of Oakridge, crossed over the centerline and collided head-on with a westbound Peterbilt CMV pulling a trailer, operated by Jesus Diaz (53) of Central Point.
Elliot Jr. sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Diaz was uninjured.
Highway 58 traffic was affected for approximately 6 hours.
OSP was assisted by Dexter Fire-Rescue and ODOT.
