COOS COUNTY, OR - Oregon State Police is reporting that on Monday, October 18, 2021 at approximately 12:43 PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 42 near milepost 6.
Preliminary investigation revealed an eastbound Dodge Ram, operated by Daniel Taylor (37) of North Bend, crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a Peterbilt CMV towing a loaded chip trailer, operated by Calvin Mitchell (52) of Coos Bay.
Daniel Taylor sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Mitchell received minor injuries.
Highway 42 was closed approximately 6 hours.
