WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers issued the following statement Thursday regarding the deadly terrorist attack in Afghanistan at the airport in Kabul.
"The war in Afghanistan has come full circle as ISIS and other terrorist organizations continue their relentless and merciless attacks on American soldiers and their own innocent Afghan people. It is an outrage that the Biden Administration's failed withdrawal has resulted in today's deadly explosion at the Kabul airport, killing at least a dozen U.S. military service members and wounding dozens of civilians.
"Since talks began of withdrawing American forces, I have urged the State Department to have more security and military personnel to ensure the safety and security of Americans and our allies in Afghanistan, to no avail.
"May God comfort the families of each fallen soldier and Afghan ally with a peace that passes all understanding. We must honor their lives by ensuring an emergency plan is implemented to bring every American home safely, no matter the cost or timetable."
