MANCHESTR, KY (August 9, 2021)—Last week, Senate President Robert Stivers was presented the Kentucky Chamber MVP Award and Kentucky Partner for Commonsense Justice Award in his hometown of Manchester by Kentucky Chamber President and CEO Ashli Watts, Kentucky Chamber Chairman Winston Griffin, and many other business and community leaders.

Recipients of the 2021 Kentucky Chamber MVP Award showed strong leadership for the business community by sponsoring or carrying legislation, showing leadership on passage of critical legislation to improve Kentucky, or by taking hard votes in defense of business.
In addition, Partnership for Commonsense Justice (PCJ) and the Kentucky Chamber recognized Senate President Stivers for championing Senate Bill 5, priority legislation that will protect small businesses, healthcare providers, and schools from frivolous lawsuits relating to COVID-19.
“The business community wants to recognize the legislators who went out of their way to help Kentucky’s economy get back on track after such an unprecedented year,” said Kentucky Chamber President and CEO Ashli Watts. “We cannot thank President Stivers enough for his strong leadership not only on Senate Bill 5, which will help protect employers from frivolous lawsuits, but many other issues including historical horse racing and ensuring Kentucky’s unemployment insurance loan was paid off to help save every employer from a large tax increase. His 100% voting record with the Chamber shows his commitment to Kentucky businesses.”
While monitoring the progress of bills that create a better business climate and advance the Commonwealth, the Chamber tracks how each legislator votes on these bills. The Chamber’s MVP award recipients displayed more than just a business-friendly voting record, but also went out of their way, and at times across party lines, to support or oppose an issue critical to the business climate in Kentucky.
