MANCHESTER, KY (October 16, 2020) - “Meet the Candidates” town hall forum announced for Manchester: Mr. Jamie Feltner, Executive Director of the Clay County Visitors Center, and a number of other local leaders facilitated development of the town hall event to help voters become more informed on the relevant issues facing the Manchester community.
The “Meet the Candidates” town hall forum will be conducted on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 6:00 PM at the Clay County Community Center located at 311 HWY 638 in Manchester, Kentucky.
“We believe that this event promotes the importance of voting, but also provides a venue by which candidates can connect with the voters”, said Feltner. “Furthermore, we think this type of event helps candidates to sharpen their message, share their vision, and communicate their ideas with stakeholders,” added Feltner.
The venue has established a protocol to follow social distancing guidelines for participation as well as spaced seating arrangements, masking upon entry until seated, does not permit social loitering, and hand sanitizer will be provided upon entry. Seating capacity is limited to include the political candidates, the moderator, and a select number of constituents on a first-come, first-seated basis. All healthy event guidelines will be strictly observed.
“We have invited Dr. James M. Davis, Professor of Psychology at Eastern Kentucky University, and native of Manchester, Clay County to moderate the forum, remarked Feltner. “This type of town hall event is commonplace in other communities around the country and it provides for an excellent opportunity to engage local community leaders, elected officials, and constituents in the democratic process”, said Davis.
