LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Maj. Chuck Johnson, Capt. Robbie Grimes, Lieut. Chris Edwards along with Sheriff's detectives, deputies, and a Sheriff's office K-9 team arrested 10 individuals on Thursday, August 13, 2020 while conducting drug investigations throughout Laurel County.
Deputies found:
- Methamphetamine
- Baggies of Meth
- Glass pipes
- Scales
- Needles
In addition at one residence two juvenile children ages 9 and 12 were found in the residence where drugs were found off Boggs Lane in Lily.
In another residence off Slate Ridge Church Road a 3-year-old was found living in a house that had poor living conditions.

At another residence off Topton Road deputies located a reported stolen vehicle in the driveway and found occupants in possession of Methamphetamine later executing a search warrant there and finding more Methamphetamine.
On Thursday night Sheriff's investigators conducted a traffic stop on North Main St. at Short Street and a sheriff’s K-9 team alerted on the vehicle stopped and found occupants in the vehicle in possession of a large quantity of Methamphetamine, scales, needles, and a .22 caliber weapon and learned the driver was a convicted felon.
Also one warrant was executed during the day on an individual found with drugs.
Those arrested were identified as:
Off Boggs Lane in Lily:
Melissa Renée Cornett age 44 of Boggs Rd., Lily charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Criminal abuse – first-degree – Child 12 or under
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Failure to appear in court on charges of operating on suspended or revoked operator's license
Joseph A. Smith age 53 of Boggs Rd., Lily charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Off Slate Ridge Church Road:
Roger D. Abner age 43 of Slate Ridge Church Rd., Lily charged with:
- Criminal abuse – first-degree – Child 12 or under
Candice Davis age 31 of Slate Ridge Church Rd., Lily charged with:
- criminal abuse – first-degree – Child 12 or under
Off Topton Road:
Joseph Ryan Baker age 47 of Topton Rd., London charged with:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Resisting arrest
- Receiving stolen property under $10,000
David Ray Robinson age 46 of Topton Rd., London charged with:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Sonya Alberta Rogers age 38 of Abutment Rd., London charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Patricia Ann Hatton age 34 of Greene -Lake Road, Corbin charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
On N. Main Sreet at Short Street in London at a traffic stop:
Marissa Rodriguez age 42 of Hodge Ln., London charged with:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
Caitlyn Correll age 29 of old Salem School Rd., London charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
All arrested individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
