LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Gary Mehler along with Deputy Daniel Reed arrested Ashley R. Smith age 24 of Barr Creek Road, Oneida, KY on Saturday evening July 11, 2020 at approximately 5:51 PM.
The arrest occurred in a business parking lot off KY 80 approximately 3 miles east of London after deputies were dispatched to observe for a brown colored Ford Explorer possibly driving under the influence which allegedly had pulled into a business parking lot there.
Upon arrival at the scene deputies located the suspect vehicle and conducted an investigation on a passenger who was located passed out or sleeping in the vehicle.
During the investigation, Deputy Mehler deployed his K-9”Edge” who alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
Deputies located:
- Suspected crystal Methamphetamine
- A glass Meth pipe
- Scales
- A spoon with white residue
- Hypodermic needles
- Rolling papers
- Suspected Marijuana
Ashley Smith was charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of Marijuana
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
