DUI Arrest during Investigation of "Hit and Run" Traffic Crash / Laurel County

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston arrested Meschea Danielle Allen age 30 of East Bernstadt on Saturday night June 13, 2020 at approximately 10:53 PM. 

The arrest occurred off KY 1228 approximately 10 miles north of London after Deputy Houston was dispatched to a complaint of a hit and run traffic crash on KY 1228.

Upon arrival at the scene, Deputy Houston learned that allegedly a blue Jeep Wrangler had struck a black GMC Sierra pickup and continued north on Highway 1228 failing to stop.

Deputy Houston checked the operator of the black GMC Sierra pickup making sure he was okay and traveled approximately 1 1/2 miles farther north on Highway 1228 and located the run vehicle, a blue Jeep Wrangler.

Deputy Houston conducted an investigation on the driver noting that she had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from her person and slurred speech and determined that she was under the influence.

Meschea Danielle Allen was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
  • Leaving scene of an accident – failure to render aid or assistance

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
