Man that Allegedly Assaulted Female told Deputies that He'd been Drinking Fireball Alcohol all Night

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff Deputy Allen Turner along with Deputy Jamie Etherton arrested Robert L. Brummitt age 58 of Lily on Tuesday night May 5, 2020 at approximately 9:15 PM.

The arrest occurred off Shackle Road, approximately 5 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance complaint there.

Deputies were advised that a male subject was intoxicated and had a knife in his hands swinging it around. They were also advised that he had pushed a female subject there and struck her with his hands.

As deputies were arriving at the scene the suspect was observed jumping into the passenger seat of a nearby parked vehicle. Bystanders there advised deputies that the suspect was armed with a knife.

The suspect refused to exit the vehicle but following numerous commands finally exited the vehicle where the suspect created a disturbance by yelling and cursing and struggled with deputies falling into gravels before being taken into custody.

The suspect told deputies that he had been drinking Fireball alcohol all night.

Deputies had EMS check the suspect prior to lodging him – EMS cleared the suspect who was charged by deputies.

Robert L. Brummitt was charged with:

  • Assault – 4th degree
  • Menacing
  • Alcohol intoxication in a public place
  • Disorderly conduct – second-degree
  • Resisting arrest
