Driver Found with Meth Pipe During Arrest for 4th Offense DUI

LONDON, KY (May 5, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Brent France along with Deputy Robert Reed, Sgt. Jack Caudill, and Bailiff Dustin Saylor arrested Austin Wayne Johnson age 41 of London on Monday afternoon May 4, 2020 at approximately 12:27 PM.

The arrest occurred off West Laurel Rd., approximately 3 miles west of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a red Chevrolet Silverado driving recklessly on West Laurel Rd., crossing the centerline and almost hitting several vehicles in that area.

The vehicle was located by deputies in a business parking lot and a traffic stop conducted there where the driver was determined to be under the influence.

During arrest, this subject was found in possession of a meth pipe containing white residue believed to be Methamphetamine.

Austin Wayne Johnson was charged with:

  • Driving on DUI suspended license – third offense
  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – fourth offense
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
