Man Arrested for Murder Regarding Death of a U.S. Army Veteran in Southeast Kentucky

MANCHESTER, KY - Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on April 27, 2020 at approximately 4:00 PM Clay County Sheriff Detective Jeff Kelsey along with Sheriff Patrick Robinson, Deputy Paul Whitehead, CSO Supervisor Dewey Grubb, CSO Deputy Darrell Goins and CSO Deputy Shawn Curry arrested Jeremy Smith, 36 of South Highway 421.

The arrest occurred when Detective Jeff Kelsey conducted an investigation into the death of Russell Knuckles (right) from an assault that had taken place on March 13, 2020.

Through investigation it was found that Mr. Kunckles was at the above's house when the above mentioned subject assaulted him which lead to fatal injuries.

• Tampering with Physical Evidence
