Complaint results in Trespass and Criminal Mischief arrests

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Landry Collett along with Sgt. John Inman and K-9 Deputy Gary Mehler arrested two individuals early Wednesday morning April 22, 2020 at approximately 3:11 AM.

The arrests occurred off Highway 490 and Chapel Road after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a male and female subject allegedly breaking into a van outside a residence not their own on Highway 490.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they located the female subject taking her into custody. The male subject had fled the scene.

Deputies were able to locate the male subject a short distance away on Chapel Road taking him into custody also.

The two arrested individuals were both determined to be under the influence and were identified as:

Layton L. McQueen age 37 of London, KY charged with:

  • Public intoxication – controlled substances
  • Criminal trespassing – third-degree
  • Criminal mischief – third-degree. 

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – third-degree
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense

Crystal L. Whitaker age 36 of East Bernstadt, KY charged with:

  • Public intoxication – controlled substances
  • Criminal mischief – third-degree
  • Criminal trespassing – third-degree

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
