LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Taylor McDaniel along with Deputy Robert Reed arrested Jerry Vaughn age 42 of London on Friday morning March 20, 2020 at approximately 10:30 AM.
The arrest occurred off Campground School Road, approximately 7 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a subject refusing to leave a residence there.
Upon arrival at the scene Deputy McDaniel located the suspect who attempted to flee on foot and following a foot chase, the suspect struggled with Deputy McDaniel causing injury to Deputy McDaniel while being taken into custody.
While deputies were transporting this individual to be processed, he made numerous threats to kill both Deputy McDaniel and Deputy Robert Reed.
Jerry Vaughn was charged with:
- Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot
- Assault – third-degree – police officer is victim
- Terroristic threatening – first-degree
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Deputy McDaniel was transported by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
