Confrontational driver attempts to fight deputies upon arrest for 3rd offense DUI

Larry Joe Hubbard 600LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston along with Deputy Hunter Disney arrested Larry Joe Hubbard age 45 of Corbin early Thursday morning March 12, 2020 at approximately 1:45 AM.

The arrest occurred on KY 192 in London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a subject refusing to leave a residence off Philpot Road.

While enroute to the scene deputies were further advised that this subject had left the residence in a red F-150 pickup and was allegedly intoxicated.

Deputies located the suspect vehicle turning onto KY 192 in London and noted the vehicle was weaving on the roadway.

Deputies activated their emergency equipment however the vehicle traveled approximately 1/2 mile before abruptly stopping on the shoulder. Deputies noted they detected the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver and attempted to conduct an investigation however the driver was confrontational and upon arrest attempted to fight with deputies before attempting to flee.

Following a brief struggle where one deputy's uniform was damaged the suspect was taken into custody.

Larry Joe Hubbard was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – third offense
  • Reckless driving
  • Resisting arrest
  • Disorderly conduct – second-degree
  • Menacing
  • Criminal mischief – third-degree
  • Failure to signal
  • Failure to wear seatbelts

In addition, this subject was charged on a Whitley District Court warrant of arrest charging:

  • Assault – 4th degree
  • Terroristic threatening – third-degree

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
