Welfare Check on Children leads to Arrests in Laurel County

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy K-9 Deputy Jake Miller along with Deputy Travis Napier and Sgt. Greg Poynter arrested two individuals off Wagers Road approximately 6 miles South of London on Thursday evening February 6, 2020 at approximately 5:33 PM.

The arrests occurred after deputies were dispatched to conduct a welfare check on kids at a residence there.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies made contact with the mother and father and detected the odor of Marijuana emitting from the residence.

Deputies found two clear bags of a white crystal substance believed to be Methamphetamine, glass pipes, a grinder, and rolling papers all of which were easily accessible to two children in the residence.

Arrested was:

Michael Hodge age 43  of Wagers Road, Lily charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Criminal abuse – first-degree

Charlie Flores age 29 of Wagers Road, Lily charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Criminal abuse – first-degree

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

The children were placed in foster care by social services.
