LONDON, KY (January 7, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Sgt. Brett Reeves along with Deputy Taylor McDaniel arrested two individuals on Tuesday afternoon January 7, 2020 at approximately 12:02 PM.
The arrests occurred off West Line Creek Rd., approximately 14 miles west of London following the 10 mile pursuit of a gold colored Suzuki Vitara after Sgt. Reeves observed the vehicle travel past him at the intersection of Locust Grove Road and KY 192 and the suspect vehicle then did a 360° turn in the roadway intentionally in front of Sgt. Reeves.
The vehicle then sped away in the wrong lane of traffic on KY 192 traveling toward London at speeds of more than 75 mph and turned onto West Line Creek Rd. then on to U.S. Forest Service roads,running a white colored minivan off the roadway and in a sharp curve on the wet gravel road lost control hitting a tree. The occupants of the vehicle fled on foot leaving a dog in the vehicle.
Deputy Taylor McDaniel located the two suspects in the woods approximately 100 yards from the scene of the crash.
The two individuals were identified as:
Cody Pruitt age 21 of Locust Grove Rd., London and Jesse Green Cobb age 18 of West Line Creek Rd., London both charged with:
- Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – motor vehicle
- Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
- Speeding more than 20 mph over the limit
- Reckless driving
- Wanton endangerment – second-degree
- Failure to wear seatbelts
- No operator's license
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
- Improper turning
- Failure of nonowner operator to maintain required insurance – first offense
These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Assisting for the Sheriff's office was: Laurel Sheriff John Root, Maj. Chuck Johnson, Capt. Kevin Berry, Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards, Detective Kyle Gray, Deputy Rodney VanZant, Deputy Taylor McDaniel, Deputy Gilbert Acciardo and Deputy Jake Miller and his K-9 ”Gotcha”.
Also assisting was the US Forest Service law enforcement officers, and Kentucky State Police troopers.
In addition, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County provided assistance standing by nearby.
Also Laurel County Animal Control was requested at the scene to take custody of a pit bull found in the vehicle.
