Drug Arrest during Traffic Stop in Clay County

Clay County, Ky. -  Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on August 25, 2019 at approximately 2:30 PM Clay County Sheriff Deputy Wes Brumley along with Clay County Chief Deputy Clifton Jones arrested Jonathan Jones, 35 of South Highway 421.

The arrest occurred when Deputy Wes Brumley conducted a traffic stop on the Hal Rogers Parkway for speeding, Deputy Brumley made contact with the
driver and in plain sight laid a pistol in the passenger seat on the vehicle.

Deputy Brumley received permission to search the vehicle from the owner at which time located 3 different types of controlled substances in a metal vial with a large amount of U.S. Currency. 

Jonathan Jones was charged with:

  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 3rd Degree 1st Offense
  • Prescription Controlled Substance not in Original Container
  • Speeding 23 Mph Over
  • Reckless Driving
