Man allegedly looking in windows of residence not his own captured in London

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Kyle Gray charged Marlow Paul Baker age 34 of Sweet Hollow Road, Corbin on Wednesday afternoon August 21, 2019 at approximately 2:25 PM.

The arrest happened following a foot chase that occurred in London after London City police officers assisted by Laurel County Sheriff's deputies located Baker who was fleeing from officers and was located off Dogwood Hills in London.

Deputies charged Marlow Paul Baker on a Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant charging:

  • Two counts of assault – third-degree – police officer is victim
  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
  • Resisting arrest; public intoxication – controlled substances
  • Criminal trespassing – third-degree

The indictment warrant resulted after a presentation was made before the Laurel County Grand Jury regarding a prowler complaint investigated by Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Josh Scott, Deputy Shannon Jones, Deputy Landry Collett, and Deputy Gary Mehler where this subject was alleged to be looking in the windows of a residence not his own off KY 1223 in southern Laurel on May 3, 2019.

When deputies located this individual a foot chase occurred and upon capture this individual struck Deputy Scott in the face and also struck another Deputy before being taken into custody.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Other Laurel County Sheriff's office personnel assisting London City police on the capture of this individual included: Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Major Chuck Johnson, Capt. Kevin Berry, Lieut. Robbie Grimes, Sgt. Greg Poynter, Deputy Jake Miller and his K-9 “Gotcha”, Deputy Jamie Etherton, and Deputy Brent France.
