Undercover Drug Investigations result in Trafficking arrests

Barbourville, KY - The Knox County, Ky Sheriff's Department is reporting that: On August 12, 2019 Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith along with other deputies arrested nine individuals for trafficking in controlled substances. These arrests were the result of an undercover drug investigations conducted by Knox County Deputies. Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted in these arrests.

As part of this investigation Michelle M. Mills age 50 of Flat Lick, KY was arrested on August 17, 2019 charged with:

  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance-1st Degree

These arrests were part of Operation Crystal Mountain, a DEA coordinated effort attacking Crystal Methamphetamine dealers in Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia.

In addition to the 12 individuals arrested on state charges during this investigation, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office participated in a joint investigation with the London DEA Office.

As a result, the following individuals were indicted on federal drug-related charges:

John Helton age 44 of Corbin, KY charged with:

  • Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Office

Nursilla Anita Helton age 39 of Corbin, KY charged with:

  • Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Office

Tonya Damaron age 33 of Barbourville, KY charged with:

  • Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine

Clark Burnett age 49 of Pineville, KY charged with:

  • Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine

Ron Barksdale age 50 of New Albany Indiana charged with:

  • Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine

Rebecca Littles age 35 of Pineville, KY charged with:

  • Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine
