Man wanting deputies to shoot him gets tased instead / Clay County

Clay County, Ky -  Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on June 22, 2019 at approximately 11:30 PM Clay County Sheriff Deputies Brandon Edwards and Tommy Houston arrested Lige Nolan, 60 of Twin Popular Lane.

The arrest occurred when Deputies received a complaint of a male subject with a gun threatening to kill occupants inside the residence.

Upon arrival contact was made with a female who stated the above mentioned subject had hit her with the firearm.

Deputies made contact with the male subject sitting on the porch of a residence where he had went to prior of the arrival of deputies.

Deputies noticed a .357 within reaching distance of the male subject, deputies gave loud verbal commands for the subject to obey.

He refused to comply with lawful orders and stated multiple times that he wanted them to shoot him.

Deputy Edwards deployed his taser and the subject began to resist arrest, the subject then was taken into custody without further incident. 

Lige Nolan was charged with:

  • Assault 4th Degree (Domestic Violence)
  • Wanton Endangerment, 2nd Degree (Police Officer)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree
