Possible shoplifter appearing to be under the influence / Laurel County

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Gary Mehler along with his K-9 “Edge” arrested Deanna Gladys Johnson age 38 of East Bernstadt on Friday night June 14, 2019 at approximately 11:20 PM.

The arrest occurred off KY 490 approximately 5 miles north of London after deputies were dispatched to a possible shoplifter who appeared to be under the influence at the Dollar Store there.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies conducted an investigation on the driver of a gray colored Ford Mustang.

Deputies noted her speech was slurred and slow, had difficulty with balance, and her eyes had no convergence. This individual was determined to be under the influence.

Deanna Gladys Johnson was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – third offense
  • Driving on DUI suspended license – first offense
  • Failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense
  • Improper display of registration plates
  • And other violations

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Corrections Center.
