Fatal head-on Traffic Crash on East 80 in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Major Chuck Johnson along with Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards are investigating a two vehicle single traffic fatality which occurred on KY 80 approximately 10 miles east of London on Friday afternoon March 22, 2019 at approximately 3:27 PM.

The investigating deputies report that apparently a 2004 Chevrolet pickup traveling westbound on KY 80 crossed the centerline hitting an International tractor-trailer head on. The tractor-trailer came to rest blocking the eastbound lane of KY 80 and the pickup came to rest blocking the westbound lane of KY 80.

The driver of the pickup was identified as Douglas N. Hoskins age 58 of London –Pronounced deceased at the scene Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling.

The driver of the International tractor-trailer was identified as Gary W. Curry of London –Transported by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment of possible injuries.

Assisting at the scene of the crash for the Laurel County Sheriff’s office was: Detective Kyle Gray, Detective Bryon Lawson, Detective Daniel Grigsby, Deputy Hunter Disney, Deputy Travis Napier, Deputy Brad Mink, and Deputy Gilbert Acciardo.

Also assisting at the scene was: Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Bush Volunteer Fire Department, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Laurel County Coroner’s office, KSP/CVE.

Investigation is continuing.
