Complaint to Clay County Sheriff's Deputy providing extra patrol leads to 3 arrests

Clay County, Ky. -  Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that: On March 21, 2019 at approximately 2:45 AM Clay County Sheriff Deputy Tommy Houston was providing extra patrol on the north end of the county when he received a complaint on North Highway 421 of occupants unlawfully on a property.

Upon arrival Deputy Houston observed a Chevrolet Cavalier parked on the property along with a van on the property with its door open.

Deputy Houston made contact with Matthew Barrett age 28 of Beattyville asleep.

The above mentioned subject stated he had taken Gabapentin and appeared to be intoxicated.

When Deputy Houston was walking up to the van, Jack Couch age 34 of Lily and Amy Madden age 34 of North Highway 421 were exiting the vehicle.

Deputy Houston questioned the subjects and they stated they knew they wasn’t allowed to be on the property because the land owner had advised them to stay off the property.

Through investigation Deputy Houston determined the other male and female subject appeared to be intoxicated.

While running the information of the female subject through Clay County Dispatch, it showed the female had two warrants for her Arrest.

Jack Couch was charged with:

  • Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree
  • Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
  • Matthew Barrett  was charged with:

  • Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree
  • Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
  • Amy Madden was charged with:

  • Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree
  • Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
  • Serving Bench Warrant for Court
  • Serving Bench Warrant for Court
