Anonymous Complaint leads to recovery of Stolen Property / Clay County

Clay County, Ky. (March 20, 2019) -  The Clay County Sheriff's Office is reporting that: On March 19, 2019 at approximately 4:30 PM Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson received an anonymous tip that lead Sheriff Robinson, Clay County Sheriff Deputy Jeremy Gabbard, CSO Supervisor Dewey Grubb and CSO Kendric Smith to a residence on Brushy Branch Road.

When they arrived on scene, they noticed a four-wheeler attached to a porch with what appeared to be hot wired. After running the VIN on the four-wheeler through Clay County 911 it showed it had been stolen out of Owsley County.

While at the residence, a car pulled up the driveway and once the driver seen Deputies they hesitated with continuing up the driveway.

Once contact was made with the driver, who was Leslie Hooker age 43 of Highway 638 appeared nervous and had suspicious actions while being questioned.

The drivers information was ran through Clay County 911, it showed the female subject had numerous outstanding warrants for her arrest through Clay County District and Circuit Court, it also showed she didn't have a valid operator's license.

Deputies located illegal controlled Substances, various driver license and social security cards and numbers belonging to different individuals and a large amount of fake currency.

Also, during the search of the individual a key was located that belonged to four-wheeler.

Leslie Hooker was charged with:

  • Receiving Stolen Property Under $10,000
  • Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operator license
  • Criminal Possession of Forged Instrument- 1st Degree (Identity)
  • Failure to Register Transfer Motor Vehicle
  • Serving Bench Warrant for Court
  • Serving Bench Warrant for Court
  • Serving Bench Warrant for Court
