Man fleeing Sheriff's deputies apprehended / Clay County

Clay County, Ky. -  Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that:  On March 13, 2019 at approximately 1:00 AM Clay County Sheriff Deputy Tommy Houston along with Clay County Sheriff Deputy Brandon Edwards arrested James Alex Jackson age 55 of Jacks Branch Road.

The arrest occurred when Deputy Tommy Houston observed a pickup travelling north on Highway 421 operating with one headlight.

When Deputy Houston turned on the vehicle to initiate the traffic stop, the above mentioned subject accelerated with an attempt to evade police.

Deputy Houston then turned on Hogskin Road, the above vehicle failed to stop and continued until the vehicle turned up a closed road.

The vehicle came to a rest at the dead end where the above mentioned subject exited the vehicle with an attempt to flee deputies on foot.

Deputy Houston apprehended the subject within a few feet of the vehicle without further incident.

When Deputy Houston made contact with the above mentioned subject, he determined through investigation that the driver was impaired.

The driver refused blood testing at Advent Health Manchester.

James Jackson was charged with:

  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence ALC/DRUGS/ETC. .08 1st Offense
  • One Headlight
  • Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  • Improper Registration Plate
