Felon that allegedly assaulted a female in Laurel County jailed on multiple charges

Laurel County, Ky. Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Gary Mehler along with Sgt. Greg Poynter and Deputy Hunter Disney arrested Jason Pearl Sims age 38 of London on Thursday evening February 28, 2019 at approximately 4:53 PM.

The arrest occurred off Old Way Road approximately 3 miles east of London after deputies were dispatched to a domestic violence complaint in progress.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies conducted an investigation and learned that allegedly this individual had pushed down and choked a female subject leaving red marks on her neck and bruising on her arms.

In addition, deputies determined through investigation that this subject was a convicted felon having five prior felony convictions.

Deputies found this subject in possession of two .22 caliber rifles and a 9 mm pistol.

In addition, this subject was found in possession of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

Jason Pearl Sims was charged with:

  • Assault – 4th degree - domestic violence
  • Two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
  • This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
