Clay County Sheriff's Deputy arrests 2 during Traffic Stop

Clay County, Ky. -  Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that:  On February 27, 2019 at approximately 2:30 AM Clay County Sheriff Deputy Tommy Houston arrested two individuals off Highway 80.

Arrested was:

Bonnie England age 41 of South Highway 421 and Ray Wagers age 38 of Curry Branch Road

The arrests occurred on Highway 80.  While Deputy Houston was patrolling the area he witnessed a grey car pick a male subject up off the side of the road and take off at a high rate of speed.

Once a traffic stop was initiated on the car, while Deputy Houston was walking up to the driver he noticed a syringe wedged in the back driver side window. Deputy Houston made contact with the female driver and determined she was manifestly under the influence.

Deputy Houston conducted standardized field sobriety test on the above mentioned female subject and she showed signs of impairment. She stated to the Deputy she had used Methamphetamine and Marijuana earlier that day.

While conducting a search of the car, Deputy Tommy Houston located Methamphetamine and other Drug Paraphernalia inside the car.

The male passenger of the car was determined to be under the influence.

Bonnie England was charged with:

  • Operating Motor Vehicle Under Influence ALC./DRUGS/ETC. .08- 1st Offense
  • Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess
  • Possession of Controlled Substance- 1st Degree 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
  • Ray Wagers was charged with:

  • Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
