UPDATE - KSP has charged a man with Murder in Knox County death

Walker, Ky. (February 23, 2019) - On February 22, 2019 at 10:04 p.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call from Knox County Dispatch to assist Knox County Sheriff’s Office with an investigation located at 3159 KY 718 in the Walker community of Knox County. KSP Detectives and Troopers from Post 10 responded to the scene and began an investigation.

Preliminary investigation indicates Charles C. Davidson (55) of Corbin was transported to Barbourville ARH for medical assistance. Knox County Coroner’s Office was contacted and responded to the hospital and pronounced Mr. Davidson deceased. KSP is currently interviewing individuals and conducting a death investigation.

Mr. Davidson will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Case is still under investigation by Det. Jake Wilson. Also assisting at the scene were Knox County Sheriff’s Dept and Knox County Coroner’s Office.

UPDATE:

KSP is now working a murder investigation that occurred on February 22, 2019 at a residence in the Walker community of Knox County. Evidence and statements indicate Mr. Davidson was inside of the residence when he received multiple stab wounds with a kitchen knife. Mr. Davidson was transported from the scene to the hospital by two females, one being the owner of the residence. Mr. Davidson didn’t live at the residence nor was he related to the suspect. The perpetrator left the residence and fled to Whitley County where he was later located and arrested.

At approximately 5:47 A.M. KSP arrested and charged Jeffery Todd Hammons (53) of London with murder and tampering with physical evidence. KSP is continuing to investigate what lead to the stabbing and why Mr. Davidson was at this residence.

Mr. Hammons was lodged into the Knox County Detention Center. KSP was assisted in Whitley County by Sheriff Todd Shelley, Deputies from Whitley County and the Corbin Police Department.

Case is still under investigation by Kentucky State Police. More information will be released as it comes available.
