Fugitive arrest / Laurel County

London, Ky. - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Allen Turner along with Sgt. Greg Poynter, Deputy Jake Miller and his K-9 “Gotcha”, Deputy Travis Napier, and Deputy Hunter Disney arrested three individuals on Thursday evening February 21, 2019 at approximately 5:36 PM.

The arrests occurred on Jerry’s Road in London near Hal Rogers Parkway after deputies conducted a traffic stop on a blue colored Toyota Camry occupied by three individuals.

Deputies found Suboxone, needles apparently used to inject Methamphetamine, pipes with suspected drug residue, and a fugitive wanted by the state of California who was found in possession of a firearm.

The three arrested individuals were identified as:

The driver – Ronald D. Johnson age 51 of Friendship Lane, Hazard, KY charged with:

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Driving on DUI suspended license – first offense
  • Prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense
  • A Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear for arraignment regarding a charge of operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license

A passenger identified as: Regina Renee Fox age 36 of Abutment Road, London, KY charged with:

  • Public intoxication – controlled substances
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

A passenger identified as: Roy Charles Jonas age 30 of Indian Cove Road, Twenty Nine Palms, California charged with:

  • Being a fugitive wanted by the state of California as a parole violator – California will extradite him back there
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Giving officer false identifying information

This subject misidentified himself during the traffic stop – investigation later determined his true identity.

All three individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
