Police arrest 2 during an investigation in a church parking lot / Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Detective James Sizemore along with Detective Bryon Lawson, Sgt. Greg Poynter, and Deputy Rodney Van Zant arrested two individuals on Friday afternoon February 8, 2019 at approximately 2:44 PM.

The arrests occurred off Levi Road in a church parking lot, approximately 1 mile South of London as Sheriff’s detectives conducted an investigation there and found two female subjects in possession of suspected meth, and paraphernalia including needles both used and unused.

During the investigation one of the two female subjects attempted to flee on foot but following a short foot chase was apprehended.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:


  • Michelle Lavern Jordan age 41 of Johnson Hollow, Gray, KY charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot.
  • Sherry Estep age 42 of BW lane, London charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
