Drugs found during traffic stop on I-75 in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Landry Collett along with Deputy Jake Miller and his K-9 “ Gotcha”, and Sheriff John Root arrested Mark A. Hatch age 47 of Yuba City, California on Monday afternoon February 4, 2019 at approximately 3:30 PM.

The arrest occurred on I – 75 approximately 3 miles north of London after a traffic stop was conducted on a blue colored Chevrolet Impala that was weaving on the roadway.

During the traffic stop the odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle. An investigation was conducted on the driver who was determined to be under the influence. In addition, discovered during the stop was a THC vaporizer, and over 1 pound of marijuana, and a large amount of US currency.

The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; trafficking in marijuana 8 ounces to under 5 pounds first offense.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Assisting at the scene of the Laurel County Sheriff’s office was, Maj. Chuck Johnson, Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards, Detective Bryon Lawson, Detective James Sizemore, Detective Kyle Gray, and CSO Hunter Disney.

Also assisting was KSP Trooper Jack Riley.
