Three burglary suspects nabbed after traffic stop in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Sgt. Brett Reeves along with Detective Kyle Gray, Deputy Jake Miller and his K-9 “ Gotcha”, Sgt. John Inman, Detective Daniel Grigsby, and Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards arrested three individuals on Friday afternoon February 1, 2019 at approximately 3:05 PM.

The arrests occurred after a traffic stop off Anders Road, approximately 8 miles west of London after deputies developed information on the location of subjects believed to be involved in the burglary of Lakeside Market off Flatwoods Road, in South Western Laurel County on January 31, 2019 at approximately 1:16 AM.

One of the occupants in the vehicle matched the surveillance picture of the suspect seen in the store at the time of the burglary. Information had been sent with a video surveillance photo posted on the sheriff’s office Facebook and to television and local newspapers with numerous tips received.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the Ford bronco with Ohio tags the three individuals were occupying and found the three individuals in possession of cigarettes and change suspected to have been stolen in the burglary.

In addition, 2 of the 3 individuals were determined to be under the influence and one of the individuals had an outstanding warrant.

During arrest and while being lodged in the the Laurel County Detention Center, staff there located the female subject in possession of a clear baggie containing a crystal substance believed to be Methamphetamine.

The three arrested individuals were identified as:

  • Steven Simmons age 44 of D Anders Road, London, charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000; public intoxication – controlled substances. In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court regarding child support – arrearage of $10, $156.99.
  • Dominick Colombini age 35 of Blue Jay Lane, Keavy, charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000; no taillamps; in adequate silencer.
  • Patricia Sharp age 61 of D Anders Road, London, charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000; public intoxication – controlled substances.
    In addition, while being lodged in the detention center this subject was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and was charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; promoting contraband first-degree.

    All three individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
