Subject facing numerous charges accused of eating baggie containing suspected Meth while being booked into jail / Laurel County

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Keith Dinsmore along with Deputy Rick Cloyd arrested James E. Brock of West Tennessee Ave., Pineville, KY on Saturday afternoon December 8, 2018 at approximately 4:38 PM.

The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart’s loss prevention team detained this subject.

When deputies arrived at the scene they learned that this subject had allegedly attempted to take merchandise from Walmart without paying for it. In addition, the subject appeared to be under the influence and deputies investigated determining that he was under the influence – the subject stated he had shot up before going into Walmart.

The subject was found in possession of a baggie containing suspected Meth, a needle, Suboxone, and Marijuana. Deputies also learned this subject was wanted on four outstanding warrants.

As deputies were walking this individual to the police car from the entrance of Walmart, this subject broke away from deputies trying to run off but was captured nearby.

While being booked into the Laurel County Detention facility, this subject grabbed his eyeglass case with suspected meth in it taking a small baggie of meth and eating it.

This individual was charged with: theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting under $500; public intoxication – controlled substances; possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot; tampering with physical evidence; promoting contraband – first-degree.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Bell District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to comply regarding a charge of receiving stolen property under $500; contempt of court. A Bell Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging criminal mischief – first-degree; escape – third-degree. A Bell District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of theft by unlawful taking under $500; contempt of court. A Bell District Court warrant of arrest charging criminal trespassing – second-degree; theft by unlawful taking under $500.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
