Auditor Harmon Announces New Assistant State Auditor

FRANKFORT, Ky.  – On Monday December 3, 2018, Auditor Mike Harmon announced the appointment of Farrah Petter as the new Assistant State Auditor for the Office of the Auditor of Public Accounts (APA).  Petter, joined by her family, was sworn in as Kentucky’s new Assistant State Auditor during ceremonies Monday afternoon in Frankfort.

Farrah Petter sworn into office Monday, replacing Alice Wilson following her retirement

“Farrah has dedicated nearly 20 years to increasing accountability and transparency at all levels of local and state government, from her work on numerous audits and special examinations, to providing training to elected leaders and her fellow staff,” Auditor Harmon said.  “Her tremendous experience and background will be a valuable asset to this office, and to the taxpayers of Kentucky as she takes on her new role as Assistant State Auditor.”

“I appreciate the opportunity to serve as Assistant State Auditor and I am looking forward to continuing the great work of the Auditor’s Office,” Petter said shortly after being sworn in.

Petter, who graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1999 and received her CPA license in 2004, spent the first six years of her employment at APA working in the state audits branch, and also supervised an audit by APA of Louisville Metro Government.  She later moved into APA’s county audits branch, serving the last five years as manager of the Southeast Kentucky branch, overseeing audits for 25 counties in the region in addition to managing several special examinations.

Petter replaces former Assistant State Auditor Alice Wilson, who retired from state government effective December 1.  Wilson had served as Assistant State Auditor since January 2016.
